Upcoming Retro Android Game: Contra Returns (July 26 Release)

I'm semi-interested in checking out Contra Returns when it releases on Monday although it does appear to potentially be a F2P cash grab style game. Pre-registration does net you some extra items to get you going. The game is also releasing on iOS.  It looks like this game adds to the arcade/console classic with an updated look, online multiplayer options, new characters, many new weapons, new story lines and has 200 levels. That all sounds great but from what I can tell, the extra characters and weapons will possibly be part of a micro-transaction scheme so my hopes aren't real high but it's Contra so I'm still checking it out. It does look good!  From PROXIMA BETA: Contra Returns is a classic side scrolling shooter game Remember the secret code: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A to get extra lives? Metal Slug Attack Major Update Incoming (iOS)

There’s a big update happening soon for Metal Slug Attack on iOS from SNK. More information about it can be located on the SNK site. While not my favorite F2P iOS game it can be a lot of fun. It’s pretty much a side-scrolling strategy game with a Metal Slug paint job. Surprisingly it’s been out for 5 years now.  https://game.snk-corp.co.jp/official/metalslug_attack/news/20201230_01hs51x.html Just use Google Translate to read the above page in English.

Retro Games on iOS: Slayin

Decided to play Slayin on the iPad again. Hadn’t played the game in a couple years. It’s basically an endless stylized action RPG with very simple controls (Left, Right & Jump) and challenge amps up as you go. Despite being out for a while this definitely remains as one of the best Retro style games on Apple devices. I look forward to seeing how far I can get this time. It’s definitely not the easiest game. It looks easy but can be quite challenging.  With all the handheld Retro consoles coming out of China lately I haven’t spent too much time with my iPad in a while. I also drastically prefer gaming on Android devices over Apple devices.
