Retroid Pocket 3 Render Video

The above video is just a render of the Retroid Pocket 3 but gives you a good idea of what it will might look like.  I'm definitely pre- ordering or ordering an RP3 the moment they become available. The big selling point for me is the probability of a much higher quality build and higher resolution screen. Sadly it's not a 4:3 screen but the increased resolution should be great for Android and Streaming games. From a power standpoint it will be equally powerful as the Retroid Pocket 2 Plus although there may be higher RAM options. Hopefully we hear more soon.  There's no official word on when the RP3 will drop but it should be by late Summer.  Goretroid.com  will be the only place to initially order one.

Miyoo Mini Still Sold Out at MIYOO Global Store on AliExpress (Initial Run)

It looks like the Miyoo Mini is out of stock from the manufacturer on AliExpress, but I'm being told the bigger stock is coming up on December 23 in a couple days. From everything I've seen so far on the Miyoo Mini, it could very well be the budget micro-handheld we've been looking for.  MIYOO Global Store: https://a.aliexpress.com/_msIDgbi There are some 3rd party sellers charging $64-$67 for the Miyoo Mini (Up From $52) on AE right now, but it would definitely be best to wait and see what happens with availability on Wednesday...  What Others Are Saying: https://obscurehandhelds.com/2021/11/the-tiny-miyoo-mini-with-its-even-tinier-bezels/ https://www.cnx-software.com/2021/12/03/portable-game-console-runs-retroarch-on-sigmastar-ssd202d-processor/ https://retrododo.com/miyoo-mini/

Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) Running Well on Retroid Pocket 2.5 PCB Upgrade

Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) on Retroid Pocket 2.5 Conker's Bad Fur Day ran poorly on the Retroid Pocket 2. Some N64 games actually ran well on the RP2 too but many struggled. *Keep in mind emulation on its own is perfectly legal. Downloading, distributing or buying/selling ROMs is not. Posts like this one are for informational and research purposes.  Another interesting test video from Taki with the Retroid Pocket 2.5 (Retroid Pocket 2 Plus) PCB Upgrade which will be available to purchase on Friday at GoRetroid . We should also be seeing the Retroid Pocket 3 dropping in the near future! Considering the less than stellar N64 Emulation Performance on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo should really consider hiring the Android based developers who seem to squeeze more out games. Nintendo has been missing out on the big potential cash-in for N64 games for a while now. We'll see how the future goes and if Nintendo will patch their service and get things going. Most people would gladly

Another Positive RG351V Review

https://youtu.be/PdPS4O7YzAo Retro Dodo posted their review of the 351V today and it's mostly positive as expected. Click the above link for their review on YouTube.  I disagree with their stance that the console doesn't look that great from the front but do agree that the reset and power buttons look way too small.  My unit is still in shipping limbo and has been for 8 days now so I have no idea when I'll actually get my hands on it... I noticed they've been showing up on places like BangGood the last few days for as low as $97.99. Not sure if those prices can be trusted being that the 351V just came out this week at $108.99.

Another Look at the RG351V

Update 3/16 (Following YouTube links shows off quite a bit of RG351V gameplay testing): https://youtu.be/yRbgC1o8_rw Videos should start rolling in over the next few weeks on the RG351V. It looks like mine shipped out this morning so hopefully I'll get it soon.  While the RK3326 is getting a bit played out,  the exciting news is that we finally get one with a proper 4:3 screen.  For the record, I ordered the wood aesthetic version just because it's so strange.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zqQAr_EiAv4&feature=youtu.be

RG350P Simple Menu Disk Image

I hadn't done anything with the RG350P in a while so decided to check out the pre-configued Simple Menu image from LostYouthGamer. It all fits on a 16GB micro SD card making it an excellent option if you don't have any spare big cards or just want to set it up as a very simple user experience for someone.  This particular build includes mostly GB, GBC, Atari 2600, NES, SNES, SEGA Master System and SEGA Genesis ROMs with preview images for all the games.  Hit the link below for the video tutorial from MashTec. It's a very simple setup process.  https://youtu.be/RIb0cMFuasQ *This post is for informational purposes only. They legality of ROMs are certainly a grey area so make sure to do your research. Emulation by itself us most certainly legal in the US. The use of ROMs is the grey area part. To stay totally legal,  use ROMs you have the legal right to use or have physical copies of.

The Biggest Electronics Market In The World (China)

Not sure if I'll ever travel to China but if I ever get the chance, I'd love to check out this electronics market in Shenzhen.  It looks pretty amazing.  Link To YouTube Video:  https://youtu.be/cOt7gVS3cwM

PocketGo S30 Support Increasing..

I was NOT a fan of the PocketGo S30 out of the box but community and developer support is starting to pick up speed quite a bit. Between this and the work Retro Game Corps is doing with the S30 I'll likely have re-evaluate my thoughts on the system some time in February. Hit the link below for some information on updates in the works... https://youtu.be/zYJwDwIIvkg

RG351V Video Has Surfaced

Hit the link below for the first video of the RG351V. People seem to have mixed opinions about the wood grain look but I like it. I'm sure the final consumer version when it hits the market will look different.  https://youtu.be/qDi4HlP7hnI

the Anbernic RG351M Has Arrived (YouTube)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nszaY9eSuqY&feature=youtu.be Can't wait to see one in person. The RG351M definitely looks good as expected.

Odroid Super Go Available Soon

$80 I've seen a little talk on Facebook about the Odroid Go Super that was just announced. Sub $100 price but Odroid is known for quality issues. I'm not a big fan of the screen size for retro gaming too but it's worth keeping an eye on this thing. It will be available for sale January 2021. Its always tough judging quality from photos but it doesn't look too sturdy to me (buttons and d-pad don't look that great) but it might be a pleasant surprise.  What's weird about Odroid is that they release stuff that gets knocked off and copied but whoever knocks off their designs does it better. Lol. Maybe they are due for a big win though.  I don't think I'll be buying one but I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one just to check it out.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B9a0eOlX16s&feature=youtu.be What others are saying: Retro Dodo's Take On It

Video: 8-Bit Demake of Doom titled 'Poom'

A Pico-8 powered demake of Doom called Poom.  Demakes are rarely this interesting. I'm going to have to check out this 8-bit demake (not remake) of the classic Doom.  Hit the link below for the video. You will not be disappointed!  https://youtu.be/WxDqsAI35iw

Video of the RG351M? Maybe

We know it’s coming out soon and perhaps within weeks. My biggest curiosity with the RG351M from Abernic is if there will be some improvements and upgrades other than just the housing   https://youtu.be/-Wn6TMAbdxc

Super Console X? I'll Pass

I was looking up the prices on the "Super Console X" and that's a hard pass from me. The controllers are throwaway value and you can beat the system itself for less than $30.  I see they are selling between $80-$140 online and that's just crazy. Hard pass from me. It sounds like a lot of people selling them are using the included ROMs as the primary selling point which is something I definitely do not like encouraging. No one should be marketing the sale of ROMs.  Interesting Look at the Super Console X on YouTube: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UbxlbdMd3LU&feature=youtu.be

Minecraft on the RG351P - YouTube

I'm not particularly interested in playing Minecraft on a tiny screen but if you are,  here's a good guide from Retro Game Corps on how to set it up:  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UbxlbdMd3LU&feature=youtu.be While this doesn't really interest me, it's definitely interesting how many things are now possible with the recent boom in decent retro handheld console. If 2021 is anything like 2020 was,  we should have some exciting things coming our way.
