PowKiddy X18S Release Re-Scheduled for August

The PowKiddy X18S has gone through more than one delay and now multiple people are receiving confirmation from PowKiddy that they are now shooting for an August release. Two new photos were posted on Discord by TheOne showing off the interesting look.  The original delay appeared to be software related followed by hardware issues (parts shortages).  The X18S has changed a little spec-wise and might be slightly less attractive than originally thought. If they manage to have a solid Android build on the software side unlike the original X18 it could still be a great option depending on price.  I don't anticipate much in the way of new information on this for a while...

Latest News on the PowKiddy X18S

PowKiddy X18S Sales Starting in Mid-April There hasn't been a lot of buzz concerning the PowKiddy X18S for a while other than the fact that the launch was delayed from March to mid-April.  It looks to be like a pretty formidable competitor for the lower spec GPD systems and definitely going to be more powerful than things like the Retroid Pocket 2 or RG351 series but at a higher cost of course. The 18S is rumored to be powered by the Unisoc T618 chip aka "Spreadtrum" which is an entry level 8 core chip but certainly should blow RK3326 consoles out of the water.  The system will be touch screen running Android 10.   Hopefully PowKiddy has made some big improvements over the X18 which was somewhat of a mess with a sloppy Android build and lots of reported bugs.  The reported entry price for the X18S will be $150 or higher according to some sources and $200-250+ from others.  Anything muc

PowKiddy X18S Coming Out Soon

The PowKiddy X18S which should be available for pre- order in March certainly looks nice compared to plain looking GPD devices but will it be quality? In the clamshell DS style emulation game, GPD definitely still holds the market but PowKiddy made some interesting gains with the X18.  As of now I have no plans to buy one personally unless the price is really good but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this. Its definitely powerful enough to run DC, N64, PSP etc but for me,  my phone is still my to option for that (Samsung Note 10 Plus).  If I had to guess,  I'd say the price will definitely be above $200.  Screen 5.5 inch IPS 1280 x 720 CPU Six-Core ARM CortexTM-A55 Processor 2.0 GHZ CPU Mali G52 GPU RAM: 6GB – 8GB Storage: Internal 16 GB Storage Expansion: External MicroSD Battery: 5500 mAh
