Anbernic RG552 Finally Priced (Over-Priced!!!)

***Update 12/4: The "Official" price from Anbernic has come down a bit from this and is $226.99 + Shipping. Still a bit over-priced in my opinion...I'm still taking a pass on this one at least for now.  Price I'd Want To Pay Given All Info & Recent Developments with Competition: $159.99-$179.99.   It will be available for purchase at the end of the day on 12/5. The Anbernic RG552 (RG-552) finally got a price at $246 + $20 Shipping to US and will be released on December 20. It's not as high as some estimates (rumors) were but I think it's still ridiculously overpriced and gets a hard pass from me. Running old Android 7.1 and specs that simply don't warrant this type of price gets a very hard pass from me.  The RG552 is officially off my watch list.   The price from Anbernic site on the 20th could be a little less.  If the price had been under $200, it might worth a thought, but this is just way too high.  In general, I'm a

I expect we'll hear a release date window from Anbernic in the very near near future. For a retro handheld I'm not super excited about this screen ratio but we'll have to see how things work out....

Anbernic RG552 May Be Their Next Handheld

Personally I was hoping Anbernic would upgrade what it started with the 351V or 350M with a 3.5" 4:3 console with a better processor but if rumors are correct they might be jumping on the wide screen bandwagon with their next handheld. The lightly rumored 552 which we don't know a lot about yet looks like it will have a 5.5" screen and look a lot like the Odroid Go Super and PowKiddy RGB10 Max but with an upgraded processor possibly capable of really good PSP emulation along with improved N64 and Dreamcast emulation but in a less than desirable aspect for the majority of retro/vintage gaming.  So far there's no solid information to go off other than a very short video clip making everything about the 552 just very loose speculation at this point.  With the wide screen format even a big performance boost to certain systems doesn't make this system too attractive in my opinion. Given the increased cost with each Anbernic upgrade, I'd be shocked if th
